The splendour of the castle and the friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We were made to feel at home as though we belonged there.
A very peaceful, comfortable hotel. Great food. Friendly staff. The best nights sleep I had in years. A truely beautiful location.
Very attentive staff when nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent including a full Scottish breakfast. The hotel upgraded me due to the snow at no extra charge and even helped dig me out in the morning. I could not have asked for more
This was our favorite night in Scotland. The Castle and staff were wonderful, being taken into a candle lite dungeon for dinner was amazing.
The proximity to the airport yet the openess of the country-side.
Pleasant outlook and woodland walks. Good parking facilities
Very disappointed it was DeVere prices with Holiday Inn facilities. We felt for what it was our room was overpriced at £210 per night. Afternoon tea had been given to us as a gift and I’m sorry to say it was very mediocre. We were in the Princess Patricia room, small the King size bed was two singles pushed together. Warm soapy water would easily remove the marks around the door frame. If they are looking for an old biscuit I can tell them where it is. The chandelier that hung over the bed rattled every time there was movement in the room above. Or was it Princess Patricia laughing!
The Castle was stunning. Our room was part of the castle which was very interesting. We had stunning views of the 11 acre property from our window. Our bed was comfortable. Loved the heated towel rack. Dinner in the dungeon was delicious, the automsphere was like no other.
N/A - our whole experience was fantastic
Always wanted to stay in a Castle. The castle was nice and the grounds were beautiful. Was a nice place to just enjoy the outdoors...weather permitting.
Hoped there would be more to see within the castle.
It was such a great castle experience. All we had hoped and more. We had a very late check-in but got a great night time tour of the castle complete with secret passages and a ghost. Breakfast was delicious. It was all we could ask for to make it a special stop on our vacation.
Staff was exceptionally warm & helpful. Although there was a miscommunication about the readiness of our room upon arrival (we were early in any case) they had this put right well before we would actually have been due to arrive. Did not get a chance to use the spa facilities, but were impressed w/ the Falconry availability-& the food was fabulous. Very pleased with our experience.
The common areas and Orangery Restaurant were lovely. Food was very good. The library was charming. The standard castle room was quite large. The castle atmosphere and grounds were good and only 25 minute drive from the center of Edinburgh.
The room was shabby with torn and dirty carpet. The blanket was dirty and the mattress was on the wood slat bed frame with no box spring which was uncomfortable.
Dalhousie Castle is well worth the short drive from Edinburgh. The room exceeded my expectations and the gourmet supper in the Dugeon was delicious. The country setting was peacefull and an ideal place to relax and enjoy the beautiful country setting. If you are looking for a place to create memories...this is it.
I can not say there was anything I did not like about the Dalhousie Castle. However, all the stairs might be a challenge for some; but the clerk was quick to pick up our bags and help.
Loved the castel atmosphere
Great atmosphere and surroundings. An historical building with interesting features but with all the modern comforts. Lovely grounds and scenery. Pleasant and helpful staff.
The breakfast - full scottish main meal - was a little disappointing with the haggis and black pudding looking sad and badly presented. The rest of the breakfast was good however. my name was wrong upon checking in, my surname was completely different!
1 the cheerful porter 2 the castle itself
1 we asked for a room with a view and got an attic view with no view 2 no lift. There were 5 stairs between the dining room and our room. The absence of a lift was not apparent from your website which is an important point as rooms were let so high in the building. 3 the much advertised gourmet experience was illusory as no seat was available until 8.30 pm and the alternate dining experience offered was disappointing
